About the Centre

Centre for Green Livelihood

The Centre for Green livelihood is dedicated to advancing sustainable development, inclusive growth, and climate resilience by working at the intersection of policy, governance, and community-driven solutions. Our mission is to support governments, industries, and communities in implementing strategies that foster economic opportunities while ensuring environmental sustainability.

Through technical assistance, capacity-building, and stakeholder engagement, we bridge policy gaps and strengthen governance structures to improve livelihoods, accelerate decarbonization, and promote long-term economic resilience. Our collaborative approach ensures that sustainable policies translate into real, measurable impact at the grassroots level.

Our Key Projects

Green Council

The Green Council, launched by the Chhattisgarh Government and chaired by the Honourable Chief Minister, is a flagship initiative aimed at fostering sustainable livelihoods and regenerative development. Swaniti Initiative serves as the technical advisor to the government, providing strategic guidance on attracting investments, enhancing market linkages, and expanding livelihood opportunities in sectors such as Minor Forest Produce (MFP), agriculture, renewable energy, handicrafts, handloom, sericulture, and eco-tourism.

Key Objectives

Our Approach

Government Partnerships
We collaborate with key state departments including urban planning, rural development, and agriculture to streamline policies and ensure effective delivery at the grassroots level.
Technical Assistance
Our team provides district-level support for improved planning in livelihood generation, infrastructure development, market linkages, and renewable energy adoption.
Capacity Building
Through initiatives like the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) and Godhan Nyay Yojana, we work with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to enhance their access to markets and improve their livelihoods.

Impact & Ongoing Work

  • Strengthening Chhattisgarh Herbals to improve market connections for Minor Forest Produce (MFP) and boost incomes for tribal and women-led SHGs.
  • Developing scalable models for generating verified carbon credits, further empowering women and communities through sustainable enterprises beyond vermicomposting.
  • Facilitating economic independence and social inclusion while addressing environmental challenges through grassroots-led climate action.

We Build Connections

By working closely with government bodies, SHGs, and private sector partners, we are shaping a transformative shift towards sustainable development—one that fosters economic resilience, community empowerment, and environmental responsibility.
